Versailles – Paris
Over-the-top opulence and very touristic. The 7 Euro extra for a tour of the private quarters was well worth the cost to avoid waiting in line to get in, and to access sights way from the mobs of tourists.

Paris Food
I am known for taking lots of food pictures when I travel and Paris is certainly a Foodies delight. I am trying to control that tendency but I can’t resist posting a few random food related pictures that don’t fit other posts…..
Tacos – Paris
Busy little order window just down the street from our apartment. Seven euro for three tacos, one each pork (+potato), chicken and beef. The proprietor laughed when Bill said “gracias.”
Meringues: Aux Merveilleux de Fred – Paris
Little airy bites of unbelievable deliciousness! Appear to be meringue discs topped with various flavored pastry creams and covered with different toppings. So good we made a second visit to the shop
Search for Ice Cream – Paris
A google search for the #1 and #2 ice cream purveyors in Paris found us by the Seine. First up was Berthillon. There was an extremely long list of flavors available, and I may have to force myself to go back and try some more. I selected coffee as my standby favorite for comparison, and then tried cassis and rhubarb. They were all good, but wow, the rhubarb was fantastic:
Next we went into the Marias area to Pozzetto for Italian gelato. Had to cut back to just two flavors: chocolate chip and coconut. Again, wonderful flavors. Maybe this place is best for conventional flavors but Berthillon wins for the unusual.
Parc de Bulles Chaumont – Paris
Nice park within walking distance of our apartment. Found my 1st France geocache with a little bit of wading in the water – not obvious at all! Found two other caches at Gard de Est train station, but forgot my pen so couldn’t log them. I was a bit worried we would attract the attention of security as we were searching down a track with no trains at the time. Something Cracker might have done?
